The history of the Cornish pie

It is not known for certain when, how, and under what circumstances the popular apple pie appeared. One version says that the dessert was first cooked in England, where it is still considered traditional.

Back in the Middle Ages, in the Cornish region, miners' wives always tried to cook varied and nutritious food for their husbands. This necessarily included desserts. The most favorite was apple pie, which was very popular with miners. It became a tradition for them to take a piece of pie to work and have it with tea during breaks.

This is probably one of the reasons why the people of Cornwall are still famous for the variety and simplicity of their pastries. In addition, the Cornish pie recipe has long been used by housewives around the world. Its main advantage over other pies is that it is as economical as possible, quick to prepare, and can be kept fresh for several days without getting stale.
