Closed puff pastry pie with meat and basil: a recipe from Yevhen Klopotenko
A pie is an excellent and delicious dish based on dough, as well as any delicious filling, ranging from savory: meat, mushroom, cabbage, vegetable, cheese, ending with sweet – berries, cottage cheese, and fruit. It is also important that almost all pies take no more than 40 minutes to prepare.
Chef Yevhen Klopotenko shared a recipe for a hearty meat pie with basil and mushrooms on his YouTube channel, which will be a great addition to broth, and soup, (to watch the video, scroll to the end).
Ingredients:
- unleavened puff pastry – 500 g
- fillet, thighs – 500 g
- eggs – 2 pcs
- onions – 2 pcs
- mushrooms – 400 g
- hard cheese – 300 g
- basil – 5 sprigs
- sunflower oil – 4 tbsp
- sesame seeds – 2 tbsp
- salt, pepper – to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the meat into cubes, and chop the onion.
2. Wash the mushrooms and cut them into cubes.
3. Fry the mushrooms and onions well in sunflower oil until tender.
4. Fry the meat in a separate pan until golden brown.
5. Defrost the finished dough and roll it out well.
6. Grate the hard cheese and mix with the fried mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and mix.
7. Add the meat and mix well again.
8. Put the filling in the middle of the dough, top with the basil, and gently roll it into a roll and then into a snail.
9. Brush the top with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds, then put in the oven for 25 minutes at 180°C.
You can eat the cake with soups, broths, or just tea, it will be very tasty and satisfying.
