Closed fish pie with potatoes and hake: a recipe from Yevhen Klopotenko
If you want to make a delicious, hearty, and flavorful pie with a salty filling, choose puff pastry for the base, and fish, meat, and seafood are perfect for the filling. It's worth noting that this dish can be a great alternative to bread.
Chef Yevhen Klopotenko shared a recipe for a delicious fish, potato, and herb pie on his website that takes only 40 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients:
- puff pastry - 500 g
- flour - 1 tbsp
- hake - 2 fillets
- eggs - 2 pcs.
- onion - 1 pc.
- sunflower oil - 4 tbsp.
- sesame seeds - 2 tbsp
- dill - 10 sprigs
- potatoes - 3 pcs.
- pitted olives - 100 g
- salt, pepper - to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into large pieces, put them in a saucepan, cover with water, salt, and cook until tender for 20-25 minutes.
2. Cut the hake fillet into large pieces and cook in salt water for about 10 minutes. Be sure to skim off the foam. Cool the cooked fish and chop it finely.
3. Cut the onion into small cubes and fry for about 5 minutes.
4. Mash the boiled potatoes and let them cool slightly.
5. Put the potatoes in a bowl, add the fried onions and boiled fish, chopped dill, olives, salt, and pepper, and mix.
6. Divide the dough into two equal pieces and roll each one out slightly. Cover the baking dish with one layer of dough and prick it with a fork, put the filling and cover with dough.
7. Top the cake with an egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds, bake the cake for 35-40 minutes at 180 C.
