Onion and cheese pie is made from buttery dough with the addition of a filling.

This pastry can be prepared in about one hour. The BBC resource shared a recipe for a pie for four servings. You will need the following ingredients:

Dough:

  • 450 g of flour;
  • Half a teaspoon of baking powder;
  • A pinch of salt;
  • 120 g of butter;
  • 1 yolk;
  • 50 g of hard cheese;
  • Half a glass of water.

Filling:

  • 1 boiled potato cut into cubes;
  • 2 medium chopped onions;
  • 1 spoonful of flour;
  • 50 ml of milk;
  • 50 ml of cream;
  • 150 g of hard cheese;
  • 5 g of mustard;
  • Salt/pepper - to taste.

Preparation:

1. For the dough, mix flour, baking powder, salt, butter and egg yolk, cheese – this mixture will look like breadcrumbs. Then gradually add water to make the mixture into a dough. Make it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and leave it in the refrigerator for an hour.

2. Mix the chopped potatoes and boiled onions, grated cheese, mustard, pepper, heated milk and cream. Mix well.

3. Preheat the oven and prepare buttered baking tins. Roll out most of the dough and place them in the mold, you may need to cut off a little if the dough looks overboard. Make punctures with a fork.

4. Put the mold with the dough in the oven for 10 minutes, then take it out and put the filling inside. Roll out another piece of dough and cover the pie with it. Cut off the excess. Brush the surface with an egg and put it back in the oven to cook for 20 minutes. When the cake turns golden, it means it's ready.
