Chicken strips like KFC: food blogger shares her cooking secrets
How to cook chicken strips at home
If you like fast food but are not fully confident in safe cooking, then it is better to do it yourself. Moreover, it's not that difficult, you just need to choose a good recipe and quality products.
Famous Ukrainian chef and popular food blogger Olha Matvii shared a recipe for delicious KFC-like chicken strips which everyone loves on her YouTube channel (to watch the video, scroll to the end).
The expert recommends marinating chicken in water with wine vinegar before cooking.
"The longer the meat marinates, the juicier and tastier it will be," says Olha.
Ingredients:
- Fillet – 2 pcs
Breading:
- Eggs – 2 pcs
- Flour – 1 cup
- Corn flakes – 400 g
- Black pepper – 1/2 tsp
- Red pepper – 1/2 tsp
- Dry garlic – 1/2 tsp
For the marinade:
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Sunflower oil – 1-2 tbsp
- Black pepper – 1/2 tsp
- Red pepper– 1/2 tsp
- Dry garlic – 1/2 tsp
- Water – 1 cup (250 ml)
- Wine vinegar – 1 tbsp
Method of preparation:
- Make the marinade: pour water into a bowl, add oil, wine vinegar, salt, sugar, black and red pepper, and garlic. Mix everything thoroughly.
- Cut the fillet into long strips and marinate in the prepared spicy marinade. Be sure to cover the container with the meat with a lid or cling film and leave it to marinate overnight in the refrigerator or for at least 2 hours.
- Breading: Separate the egg whites from the yolk, and whisk the egg whites with the spices.
- Grind the cornflakes well, and sift the flour.
- Take the cooked meat out of the refrigerator, dip each piece first in the egg whites and spices, then in the flour, and then in the whites, and flakes again.
- Put the breaded meat pieces into the air fryer and cook.
- Place the finished strips on a paper towel to drain off any excess fat.
Serve the dish with any sauce of your choice.
