How to cook cherries in their own juice at home
Summer is the right time to prepare for the winter, as there are a lot of berries and vegetables that will make delicious winter treats. Cherries are a suitable berry for this purpose because in addition to being good for the body, you can also make a lot of delicious jams, pies, and dumplings from them.

1. Cherries in their juice
Ingredients:
- Cherries - 5 kg.
- Sugar - 40 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
- Wash the berries, and remove the seeds so that the berries remain intact.
- Conveniently sterilize the jars, add a layer of cherries, then sugar, shake the jar well, and add the cherries and sugar again.
- Pour water into a large saucepan and place a towel on the bottom, put the jars in, and cover with lids.
- Pour water so that it reaches just above the middle of the jar, bring the water to a boil over moderate heat, and sterilize the jars on low heat for 20 minutes.
- When finished, take out the jars and close the lids tightly, be sure to turn them upside down and wrap them in a warm towel or blanket until they cool completely, then put them in a cool, dark place.
2. Cherries in syrup for the winter
Ingredients:
- cherries - 1 kg
- sugar - 350-400 g
- water - 700 ml
Method of preparation:
- Wash the cherries, dry them, and do not remove the pits, so the cherries will be much juicier.
- Sterilize the jars, and put the cherries somewhere so that 2/3 of the jar is filled.
- Boil the water well, fill the jars up to the neck, and leave it for 20 minutes.
- After the time has elapsed, pour the water from the jars into a saucepan to make 500 ml, add 250 g of sugar, stir, and bring it to a boil, the main thing is to dissolve the sugar.
- Immediately pour the hot syrup over the jars and screw them up.
- Turn upside down and cover with a warm cloth, leave to cool.
- Put the cooled jars in a cool, dark place so they can be stored for more than a year.
It is worth noting that you can use cherries in their juice for pies, compotes, and desserts.
