The most important thing is to cook them correctly, knowing how long each cereal should be soaked and whether it should be soaked at all, as well as how long to cook it.

Nutritionist pohydayka told us on Instagram which cereals do not need to be soaked and why, as well as how to cook them properly.

Cereals that can be cooked without soaking

1. Buckwheat

You can easily pour water over it and let it brew for about 5 hours, or preferably 8-10. After that, you can eat it without cooking!

"The secret is that brown buckwheat is already cooked, the package says that it is roasted and dried. Therefore, plain water will be enough to make the buckwheat swell," the nutritionist said.

2. Barley porridge

Porridge made from crushed barley is also traditionally boiled, but you can simply pour boiling water in a ratio of 1:2 and let it brew for at least 2 hours.

3. Couscous

You don't need to cook it because it can turn into one piece. It is enough to just pour boiling water over it and cover it with a plate for 15 minutes, but the water, even cold water, should be slightly larger than the couscous itself.

4. Hercules

Pour boiling water over the hercules and wait 15-20 minutes, after which you can eat.
