Canned dill for the winter: how to preserve herbs for the winter without freezing
Young dill is traditionally dried or frozen for the winter. If you follow the recommendations, it retains its flavor and health benefits. In addition, it can be pickled in jars.
FoodOboz has selected the simplest recipe for canned dill for the winter, which is easy to prepare and does not require sterilization.
Ingredients:
- dill - 400 g
- salt - 100 g
Method of preparation:
1. First, you need to prepare the greens for cooking, namely, rinse them several times in cold water until they become transparent. Next, separate the soft branches from the hard stems - only the tender parts will be needed for pickling. Finally, put the dill on paper towels and dry it well.
2. When the herbs are prepared, you can move on to the next step - chopping. You need to chop the dill in the way you will add it to the dishes later, it all depends on your preferences.
3. After that, mix the chopped dill with salt. It is best to do this in a deep bowl and at the same time knead the herbs with your hands to make them juice. Leave it in this form for 30 minutes.
4. After the allotted time has elapsed, put the dill tightly into sterilized jars so that there are no gaps and no air gets in.
5. Close the jars with lids (preferably those that screw on by themselves). Store in the refrigerator.
