Ingredients:
- fresh or sauerkraut – medium head
- rice – 300 g
- minced pork – 500 g
- onions – 3 pcs. medium
- carrots – 2 pcs.
- salt, ground black pepper – to taste
- flakes of red, not hot pepper
- smoked paprika – 1 tsp.
- parsley, dill
For the sauce:
- Italian tomatoes in their juice without peel – 1 can (400 g)
- garlic – 2.3 cloves
- salt – 1.5 tsp.
- sugar – 1 tbsp.
- ground black pepper – 1/3 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Sauce: grind everything with an immersion blender.
2. Filling: rinse the rice, no need to cook. Lightly fry the chopped onions and carrots, and add to the rice. Then add the minced meat, spices, and herbs, and mix everything.
3. Prepare the cabbage: put the head of cabbage in boiling water and gradually separate the leaves. Cut off the hard part. If the cabbage is sauerkraut, you do not need to steam it.
4. Form the cabbage rolls and place them tightly in a saucepan with leaves on the bottom. Pour the sauce, add water so that it covers the cabbage rolls, and cover with the remaining leaves. Put the pot on low heat and cook until tender (1.5 hours).
