Beet hummus with horseradish
Hummus is a tasty and healthy appetizer, which is always based on chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, and zira – that is, if you make the classic version. But there are also many different variations of this delicious appetizer, the taste of which can change depending on the ingredients added or substituted.
Nutritionist Svitlana Fus shared on Facebook a recipe for an unusual beetroot hummus with horseradish that will definitely surprise you, as well as a recipe for classic hummus.
Ingredients:
- boiled chickpeas - 250 g
- garlic - 2 cloves
- lemon juice - 2 tbsp.
- tahini - 75 g
- boiled beets - 1 pc.
- cumin - 1/2 tsp.
- grated horseradish - 1 tsp.
- pine nuts - 1 tsp.
- pink pepper or barberry - 1 tsp.
- fresh thyme - 1 sprig
- olive oil - 2 tbsp
- ground paprika - a pinch
- salt - to taste
Method of preparation:
- Boil the beets, peel, and cut into large pieces.
- Boil the chickpeas until tender, put them in a blender with garlic, tahini paste, lemon juice, and olive oil, add cumin and a little salt, and blend well until smooth, you can add a little water, mix everything and put the resulting classic hummus in a bowl.
- For beet hummus, all you need to do is put the beet slices and peeled horseradish in a blender and blend well until smooth.
- Before serving, drizzle the classic hummus with olive oil and sprinkle with smoked paprika, and sprinkle the beet hummus with fresh thyme leaves and chopped pine nuts.
