Homemade beer with hops

Beer is a real man's drink. The delicate foam, bitter but at the same time light taste leaves many people indifferent. Usually, everyone buys beer in the store, but you can make it at home. It will be even tastier.

Today, the FoodOboz editorial team shares the secrets of brewing homemade beer with barley and honey.

Recipe for light beer

Ingredients:

  • Water - 35 liters
  • Sugar - 1.5 cups
  • Barley malt - 5 kg
  • Hops - 45 g
  • Brewer's yeast - 25 g

Method of preparation:

  1. Pour water into a sterilized saucepan, and put on moderate heat.
  2. Grind the malt in a coffee grinder or using a blender, wrap it in cheesecloth, immerse it in water, and keep it at 65 degrees over low heat for 90 minutes. Then for another 5 minutes at 80 degrees.
  3. Take out the malt bag, rinse it in the remaining water, and mix it with the wort (it should still be quite hot).
  4. Cook the mixture until it boils.
  5. Add the hops prepared in advance – 15 g of the total amount.
  6. Boil for another hour, then add the hops.
  7. Keep it on fire for 10 minutes, then put it in a cold place and cool completely.
  8. Add brewer's yeast, and mix thoroughly.
  9. Put the pot with the future beer in a dark, cool room for the fermentation process. It will last for 10 days. Don't forget to install a special water seal.
  10. After 10 days, strain, add granulated sugar, and mix well.
  11. Pour into sterilized bottles (they should be treated in the same way as canning jars).
  12. Place in a dark, cool room for 20-21 days to mature and acquire a beer flavor and aroma. Shake periodically.

Beer on honey

Honey-based beer

Ingredients:

  • Water - 16 liters
  • Liquid honey - 2 liters
  • Hops - 20 g
  • Brewer's yeast - 10 g

Method of preparation:

  1. Boil half of the prepared water in a large saucepan.
  2. Pour the honey into the boiling water, and mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps or splashes of honey.
  3. Cook for an hour.
  4. Add a liter of water to the resulting honey broth.
  5. Add hops, and mix very thoroughly.
  6. Cook for another 60 minutes. Important: do not remove the foam during the first half hour. If much of the liquid evaporates, add a little boiling water from the kettle.
  7. Cool the mixture. This is necessary to prevent microorganisms from growing in the liquid. You can use a bathtub filled with ice water.
  8. Pour the beer into a container where it will ferment. Add brewer's yeast. All this can be done in a regular saucepan.
  9. Transfer to a dark, cool room for 10 days.
  10. Prepare bottles for storage – glass vessels with a tight lid or plastic bottles will do. Add a spoonful of honey to the bottom of each of them – the same honey that was used during brewing.
  11. Pour the beer into the bottles with a straw.
  12. Leave in the dark and cool for 20-30 days. If you drink honey beer right away, its taste may seem too harsh and bitter.
