Baked juicy meatballs with gravy: recipe for a hearty lunch or dinner
Meatballs are an ideal light lunch or dinner. They are cooked with buckwheat or rice and minced meat, making the dish very satisfying and nutritious. The most popular sauce for meatballs is tomato sauce based on carrots, onions and tomatoes or tomato paste. And to make the dish less caloric, it is advised to bake the meatballs in the oven.
Food blogger Oksana Bilinska (oxana_bil) shared a recipe for delicious meatballs with gravy, which can be cooked in the oven, on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- minced meat - 500 g
- eggs - 1 pc
- rice - 100 g
- onion - 1 pc
- spices
Gravy:
- carrots - 1 pc
- onion - 1 pc
- sour cream - 1 tbsp
- tomato paste - 1 tbsp.
- flour - 1 tbsp
- water - 500 ml
- spices: salt, pepper, sugar, garlic, bay leaf
Method of preparation:
1. Boil the rice until half cooked.
2. Chop the onion.
3. Mix the minced meat, rice, onion, egg, salt, pepper and dry garlic. Stir.
4. Form the meatballs and place in a greased baking dish. Bake at 200 degrees for 25 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Fry onions and carrots until soft.
6. Separately, mix sour cream, pasta, flour and 1 glass of cold boiled water. Add the resulting mass to the onions and carrots.
7. When the sauce begins to thicken, add hot boiled water and bring to the desired consistency.
8. Add spices and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
9. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and bake at 180 degrees for another 20 minutes.
