Authentic forshmak recipe: how to cook the legendary dish
Forshmak is a traditional Jewish dish that became a staple in the diets of millions of Ukrainians many decades ago. It is made from chopped herring, sour apple, and other ingredients, forming a spread of incredible flavor that is a great appetizer.

Ingredients
- Herring - 2 pieces
- Boiled eggs - 2 pcs
- Sour apple - 1 pc
- Medium onion - 1 pc
- Butter - 70-90 gr
- Bun - 1 pc
- Milk for soaking
Method of preparation
1.Peel the center of the middle from the bones to form a fillet that is finely chopped with a knife.
2. Remove the crust from the bun and soak the flesh in milk.
3. Peel the apple, grate it and add it to the herring.
4. Grate the boiled eggs and onion and add to the total mass.
5. Squeeze the bun from the excess liquid and add it to the herring.
6. Add soft butter and mix thoroughly.
7. Serve with black bread toast.
