Apple mustard and sauce – savory seasonings for the winter

Most housewives are used to a certain monotony in their kitchens: baked potatoes are drizzled with ketchup or mayonnaise, and jam or honey is served with pancakes. However, over time, you get tired of it and want something unusual. Apple sauce, and even more so apple mustard, is a rather original and extremely tasty winter condiment.

Apple mustard
Ingredients:
- Apples - 3 pcs.
- Dry mustard - 3 tbsp
- White wine vinegar - 3 tbsp
- Sugar - 2 tbsp.
- Cloves - 3 pcs
- Peppercorns - 3 pcs
- Salt - 1 tsp
Method of preparation:
- Apples bake until softened in the oven. Then peel and core the apples and rub the flesh through a sieve.
- Meanwhile, bring the vinegar to a boil, and add sugar and salt. Stir until completely dissolved. Add cloves and pepper.
- Mix applesauce (4 tbsp) with dry mustard. Add the rest of the mashed apples and vinegar with spices. Mix thoroughly.
- Put in a jar and store in the refrigerator. In 3 days the mustard will be ready.
Apple sauce
Ingredients:
- Apples - 3-4 pcs.
- Powdered sugar - 100 g
- Cinnamon (stick) - 1 sh
- Lime (or lemon) - half
- Pure water - as much as needed
Method of preparation:
- Peel and core the apples. Cut into small pieces.
- Put them in a saucepan. Pour water so that it completely covers the apples. Put on the fire. When the first bubbles appear on the water, reduce the heat to low. Add cinnamon stick, and granulated sugar and stir. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Cool. Put the whole mass and lemon juice in a blender bowl and beat well. Transfer the sauce to jars and store in the refrigerator.
It is best to serve apple sauce and apple mustard as a seasoning for meat, meat dishes, and fish.
