An elementary tomato appetizer: prepared in minutes
The tomato season is starting in Ukraine. This juicy vegetable can be used to make not only a salad but also an interesting appetizer. It is very simple but at the same time satisfying. It is suitable both for a festive table and for a regular snack.
The idea of making a simple tomato appetizer was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Inna Levenets (inna_levenets).
Ingredients for the sauce:
- vegan butter or margarine – 1/2 tbsp
- flour – 1 tbsp
- vegetable milk – 1/2 cup
- water – 1/4 cup
- lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Dijon mustard – 1 tsp
- salt, dry garlic
Ingredients for grilled tomatoes:
- tomato
- salt and black pepper
- salt – 1 tbsp
- tortilla, pita bread or bun
- avocado
- paprika, dried herbs
Method of preparation:
1. Prepare the sauce.
2. Melt butter or margarine in a saucepan.
3. Remove from heat, add a spoonful of flour, and stir well.
4. Add lemon juice, mustard, milk, water, salt, and dry garlic to the saucepan.
5. Stir and put on low heat for 3-4 minutes.
6. Stir the sauce, and remove the saucepan from the heat.
7. In a frying pan with vegetable oil, fry the tomato, salted and peppered, and cut into three pieces, on both sides.
8. Assemble the appetizer: put the tomato on the pita bread, then the avocado, pour the sauce and sprinkle with dried herbs and pepper.
