6 pseudo-healthy foods that everyone should give up: nutritionist explains why
Every day, everyone eats a variety of foods, both healthy and unhealthy, relying on advertising and believing them to be healthy. Among them are many dairy products, as well as fruits and vegetables.
Nutritionist Liudmyla Honcharova told FoodOboz exclusively which foods are pseudo-healthy and why you should avoid them.
1. Store-bought granola
This product is not healthy at all, because the flakes retain much less nutrients than the grain, so it is best to eat cereal or make granola at home.
2. Roasted nuts
Nuts are a high-calorie and very satisfying food that contains a lot of healthy fats. It is better to eat them dried and raw, but not fried, because at temperatures above 40 °C, all healthy fats are not absorbed. The daily norm of nuts is 1-2 tbsp.
3. Milk
It is best to use vegetable milk, such as coconut, rice, oatmeal, almonds, and soy. Porridge will also be very tasty with plain water.
"Up to 3 years old, cow's milk is digested, but you need to check the protein absorption according to nutritional genetics and allergens, whether there are lactose enzymes," the expert advises.
4. Cheeses (we are talking about low-quality ones)
When choosing cheese, be sure to pay attention to the composition so that it is a dairy product.
5. Fruit juices
The best thing to do is not to drink store-bought juices because they contain a lot of sugar. Fruit and vegetable smoothies can be a great alternative. For an adult, the daily allowance is 100 ml, which is best diluted with water, and for children – 50 ml and also diluted with water.
6. Store-bought yogurt
Yogurts are very healthy if they are homemade and natural, without flavors and flavor enhancers. You can add fruit, honey, and nuts.
The expert recommends eating as much raw seasonal fruits and vegetables as possible, which are high in vitamins and essential minerals.
