We have all done freezing for the winter and beyond many times, without even realizing that this process can ruin the benefits of a product. There are many reasons for this, but the most important one is that some foods absolutely cannot be frozen.

The FoodOboz editorial team has selected for you a list of 5 foods that should never be frozen, otherwise they will become completely useless for the body.

1. Dairy products

They will simply lose their structure, stratify after freezing, and lose all their beneficial properties, and they will contain lumps. This also applies to yogurt, mayonnaise, and sour cream.

2. Fruits and vegetables

The following vegetables and fruits are not suitable for freezing:

  • cucumbers
  • eggplants
  • tomatoes
  • zucchini
  • cabbage
  • pears

The thing is that they contain a lot of water, and at low temperatures, the liquid inside only crystallizes, so you get just mashed potatoes.

3. Cheese

After freezing, it will become very loose, it will fall apart into small pieces, and its taste will be simply terrible.

4. "Light" alcoholic beverages

Champagne, wine, and beer are the worst options for freezing, as they contain more water than alcohol. Bottles can burst when frozen.

5. Ready-to-eat foods

Do not freeze ready-to-eat meals such as:

  • pasta
  • buckwheat
  • rice

The fact is that rice, for example, cannot be eaten even the next day, let alone frozen, buckwheat will lose all its beneficial properties under the influence of low temperatures, and pasta will first turn into one piece, and when defrosted, it will crumble and break into small pieces.
