When to sow peas outdoors: instructions for beginners
Peas are not only a tasty and nutritious food, but also a valuable green manure that enriches the soil with nitrogen. It is not surprising that it is grown in many areas.
It does not require much effort to grow. However, in order to get a rich harvest, it is important to know when to sow peas in open ground, TSN told.
The best time to sow peas
Peas like cool weather, but it is important not to sow them in the open ground too early so that frosts do not damage the crop. Experts recommend doing this from mid- to late April when the ground has already warmed up enough, it is not too hot outside, and the risk of a sharp cold snap is minimal.
How to sow peas
It is better to sow peas in the same garden beds where potatoes, cabbage, pumpkin, tomatoes, or cucumbers grew last year.
Well-drained, fertile soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH is ideal for the plant.
Before sowing, the seeds should be soaked in water for several hours, and the soil should be well dug up and loosened with fertilizer.
The holes for the seeds should be about 3 cm deep and spaced 8-10 cm apart.
In the future, do not forget to regularly water and, if necessary, fertilize the plants with nitrogen and potassium to get a bountiful harvest in 2-3 months.
