Three kitchen utensils that are full of germs: everyone forgets to clean them properly
Hygiene in the kitchen is very important

When it comes to tidying up the kitchen, removing bacteria becomes extremely important, because the safety of the food you cook depends on the hygiene of the utensils and surfaces. And while we take care of countertops and dishes on a regular basis, some important items may be hiding from our attention.

Cleaning experts point out that three types of objects in the kitchen collect especially many bacteria. Therefore, they need proper care right now. OBOZ.UA tells you about these items.

Cutting boards

There's no doubt that you wash your whiteboards after every use. But over time, they collect stains and dirt, which become a breeding ground for bacteria. That's why this type of kitchen utensil needs regular deep cleaning, regardless of the material of the board.

To clean a wooden cutting board, lightly wet it and sprinkle it with plenty of baking soda. Let the baking soda powder adhere well to the surface. Next, squeeze the juice of half a lemon onto the baking soda and rub the board with the rest of the juice. Rub the baking soda in a circular motion, then remove the rest of the product and repeat the procedure on the other side of the board. The baking soda will help mechanically remove stains and neutralize odors that remain on the board, while the lemon will act as a natural disinfectant. Finally, wipe the board dry.

To deeply clean a plastic board, use the same method, but do not immediately start rubbing the baking soda with the squeezed lemon, but leave it on for 10 minutes. After cleaning with lemon, put the board in the sink, pour white vinegar over it, and scrub it with a stiff washcloth. Then rinse the item under running water and wipe it dry.

Wooden spoons

Another thing you probably wash after every use, but don't even realize that the porous structure of wood still accumulates grease and dirt is a wooden spoon or spatula. To get rid of dirt on it, boil some water, fill a cup with boiling water, and put the wooden object in it for a few minutes. Dirt and stains will disappear before your eyes. Afterwards, clean the spoon with a washcloth, rinse it under the tap, and blot the remaining water with a towel.

Canning knife

Not everyone washes this type of kitchen utensil after each use. However, the blade of a can opener collects micro particles of food and becomes food for bacteria. To get rid of them, moisten the blade with water and sprinkle it generously with baking soda, and then rub it properly with a dish sponge. The baking soda will mechanically remove all dirt and leave the can opener clean and shiny. All that remains is to rinse the item.
