No need to dig for years: how to make an "eternal garden bed" and what are its advantages

The main trick is to arrange everything so that the land itself maintains its fertile state. Source: Created with the help of AI

The need to dig up the land every year scares some people away from gardening, and even experienced gardeners rarely like this type of work. But there is a method that allows you to create so-called "eternal beds". They won't need annual digging.

It sounds like a fantasy, but people who have tried this method claim that it works. OBOZ.UA tells about it in detail.

Try to start by organizing one such bed. Choose an area well-lit by the sun and remove all plants from this piece of land. Next, cover the soil with organic mulch - straw, fallen leaves, shredded bark, small twigs, etc. Mulching is generally an important procedure for perpetual beds.

Plant the plants in the soil prepared in this way. Do not place them too tightly - the vegetables should have enough space for rooting and development. Rip off a little mulch and dig the sprout into the ground. Leave a little uncovered space for the sun and air around the stem.

Caring for "eternal" beds consists in regularly removing excess plants from them and renewing the mulch layer. It is the mulch that will be responsible for filling the soil with moisture and nutrients. More precisely, for keeping them in the ground better.

An additional advantage of such beds is that they provide a comfortable microclimate for soil microorganisms, beneficial worms, and insects. Without digging, they reproduce easily and provide the plants with the necessary nutrients, improving the quality of the substrate.

Mulch on the "eternal" bed acts as a moisture retainer and also protects against weed growth. Nevertheless, the area should be periodically checked for unwanted seedlings and removed. This way, an organized piece of land will serve you without digging for at least several years.
