How to store shoes in an apartment: a clever trick to organize your closet

One thing you can never have too much of in your home is a place to store your shoes. Sneakers, shoes, boots, and especially boots are bulky items, and not every closet, even a very spacious one, has room to store them.

You can solve the problem yourself. For example, by assembling a shoe shelf from old cardboard boxes. Blogger Sherry Madison, who also calls herself the Queen of Cardboard, showed how to do this on her TikTok account.

All you need is a few cardboard boxes of the right size, hot glue, and a little paint. Of course, this won't be a capital solution that will last for many years. However, such a shelf is quite capable of taming the mess of piled-up pairs in the hallway.

If you have a lot of pairs of shoes, you can use very wide boxes that can fit several pieces in a row. What's more, you can use this inventive technique to store various other not-so-heavy items that often turn a home into chaos. And here's how to assemble such a rack.

First, collect large enough empty cardboard boxes and assemble a two-tiered cabinet with open shelves. It is better to fill the bottom row with drawers, also made of boxes. In the video, Sherry has formed two rows of three identical boxes.

Next, glue these boxes together with hot glue. And on top, glue a solid sheet of cardboard that will connect the entire structure, further strengthening it. Don't forget to add boxes to the bottom row, using smaller cardboard boxes with rectangular slots to serve as handles.

Finally, paint the cardboard shelving in the color you want. It is better to apply the paint in two layers. You can also decorate the structure with wallpaper or paper. Wait until everything is dry, insert the drawers into the lower tier, and use your homemade organizer.

However, do not forget about certain precautions. Do not put wet shoes inside - water will damage the cardboard. Also, do not sit on such a cabinet or put heavy bags on it. The material can withstand a very limited load.
