Keeping your home clean is a challenge, especially if you have a busy schedule. That's why sometimes we may notice that our home is chaotic and messy.

When there is a pile of garbage in the house, things are out of place, and so on, it seems like it will take forever to clean. But npr has shared a five-step method to help you structure and simplify this process.

Sooner or later, each of us faces a mess, so don't be ashamed of it. Remember that you don't live to serve your space, it exists to serve you. Therefore, the only thing that matters is that you are as comfortable as possible living in your home.

The five things cleaning method is a mechanism that allows you to understand how to bring a messy room back to normal. Its essence lies in the fact that there are only five things that create chaos in any space: garbage, dishes, laundry, things that have a place, and things that have no place.

How to make sure your home is always clean: five tips

Trash

Take a large garbage bag and put everything you're ready to throw away in it as you move around the room. Don't spare old cans, boxes, and other junk thinking you might need it someday. Get rid of everything that you probably won't need again.

Dishes

Gather all the dirty dishes and put them in the sink if there is room, or stack them on the countertop. Don't wash them just yet, because it will take a lot of your energy, so you probably won't want to move on.

Underwear

Gather all the clothes that are not in their proper place in a basket. Some of these clothes may be clean, and some you've only worn once, but don't waste time sorting them. If they are not in the closet, they go into the laundry basket and then into the washing machine.

Things that have a place

This is the easiest step because it means that you just need to put everything in its place.

Things that have no place

Sometimes our things become a mess because we never chose a place to store them. If you are motivated enough, you can categorize them and find places for them. But if you don't feel like spending time on this, then put all such things in one box and set it aside.

Once you've completed these five steps, it's time to take out the trash, wash the dishes, and run the laundry if you have the energy to do so. However, even if you decide to leave everything as it is, your space will still look tidy.
