Roses are finicky flowers, so growing them in a pot is not an easy task. The rose blooms for a long time but still requires careful maintenance. Indoor flowers grow up to 50 cm in height.

After purchase, the plant should be repotted in 10-14 days. A small pot will come in handy, otherwise the soil will begin to oxidize. Read the OBOZ.UA article to know how to grow a luxurious bush rose in a pot and which substrate to choose.

What substrate is suitable for roses

The substrate should be loose and nutritious. The first step is to pour a layer of expanded clay drainage. River pebbles are also suitable, to which you should then add a small layer of buttonwood, lightly moistured.

How to transplant a rose

  1. Remove the rose from the old pot along with the soil clod.
  2. Transplant the plant with the same clod into a new container and add substrate.
  3. Water the plant thoroughly and place it in a suitable location.
  4. The rose needs adequate air circulation. Do not forget to ventilate the room regularly. However, you should also protect the plant from drafts.

Air temperature, humidity and lighting

The optimal air temperature for roses is between 14 and 25 °C.

The optimum humidity is at least 50%.

In the heat, you can do daily light spraying, and when the plant goes into a dormant period, spraying should be reduced to a maximum of 2 to 3 times a week.

Indoor roses grow well in diffused light. At noon, it is better to hide the plant from active sunlight, otherwise the risk of burns on the leaves increases.

How to care for a rose

Roses are prone to pests and diseases. Due to excessive watering and lack of fertilizer, spots often appear on the leaves.

Experts advise to try spraying with soapy water and baking soda first. Damaged leaves should be removed immediately.

You can also treat the plant with a solution of iron sulfate or copper chloride.

It is quite easy to identify mistakes in care:

  • Falling leaves indicate improper watering and lack of fertilizer.
  • If the roots begin to rot, you probably over-watered the substrate or the rose is in a too cold room.
  • Insufficient watering and low air humidity lead to falling buds.
  • If the rose does not bloom, you probably did not transplant and prune it before winter (if necessary).
