Makeup artist Violette Serat told how to do French lip makeup

French makeup artist Violette Serrat has revealed the secret of how to look relaxed and natural with bright lipstick. French women are famous for their love of accent lips, which has become part of their everyday style.

In a conversation with German Vogue, the influencer, who has an artistic background, compares the lipstick application technique to painting. "To make lipstick, and blush in particular, look natural, you need to apply several transparent shades on top of each other. A natural blush on the cheeks and lips never consists of just one color. Artists did the same," the expert said.

The blogger recommends "layering" several translucent textures on top of each other, because the color of our lips is not just one shade: "When you do it this way, it looks like the blush really shimmers through the skin, just like blood vessels do in nature."

In particular, in real life, Serrat chooses a bright red lipstick color, combining two shades. "In France, we love bold lipstick colors. But it has to look like it took two seconds. And to be honest, we usually only need two seconds. They always say that to look effortless, you need to be effortless – it's not a secret," explains Violette.

However, the makeup artist admits that she is not a fan of lip pencils. To achieve a makeup look like the French icons, you should apply lipstick and tap with your finger, adding lightness to the texture. For the inexperienced, it can take not only two seconds but no more than two minutes and looks gorgeous, she adds.
