The trends of the 90s are back. Clear contouring has been replaced by radiant natural makeup with a pronounced blush, and the era of thick eyebrows is a thing of the past. A few years ago, it was hard to imagine that thin eyebrows would ever become popular again – but it happened.

Makeup artists note that the return of the thin eyebrow trend does not mean that you should immediately take tweezers and pluck out what has been so carefully grown, emphasized, and finished over the past decade. First of all, it's about modern makeup that will emphasize the beauty of your face and not create such expressive overloaded accents.

Perfect eyebrows

When we say "thin eyebrows", you shouldn't immediately say "no" and imagine those thin threads that once remained on our faces after careful plucking. Famous makeup artist Melissa Gurkman says it's about a more natural and gentle approach to sharp, sculpted eyebrows.

In the 90s, many people went wrong with the trend: they reshaped their natural eyebrows instead of using the right makeup techniques. Due to excessive plucking of hairs to achieve the desired effect, they had to face problems with eyebrow regrowth. With the return of 90s trends, the first thing you should do is change your approach to makeup.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1. If you have naturally thicker eyebrows – especially if you've been growing them for a while – don't reach for the tweezers. Instead, grab a pair of scissors.

"Brush your eyebrows up and out and trim off any excess length at the top of the brow," Gurkman advised. Plucking can damage the hair follicle and slow down the growth of the eyebrows.

Step 2. Don't fill in or darken the base of the eyebrow, as this will only worsen the overall makeup. Just even out the tone and add some length to the end of the brow, right up to the temple.

Step 3. Apply eyebrow gel. You can choose a slightly lighter shade so as not to create too distinct dark accents.

Step 4. Highlight the brow bone. To do this, use a highlighter and concealer. Cream highlighter, unlike powder, can cover the hairs underneath, while powder formulas do not. You can also use concealer to get a similar effect.

By the way, around the age of 40, eyebrows begin to thin as testosterone levels decrease in men and estrogen levels decrease in women, which affects hair growth cycles and follicle structure.
