These five makeup mistakes make you look older in minutes: how to avoid them

The care that brought maximum benefit at the age of 30 may not be appropriate if you are already over 40. It is important to adjust your care products depending on your skin's needs.

Makeup artists emphasize that women often use common cosmetic techniques that can actually make them look older. The experts talked about five makeup mistakes to avoid.

Social media is full of life hacks and tips, but you should be careful as not all of them are effective. You will have to spend a lot of time, money, and effort to try out different techniques and find the products that are perfect for your skin type.

Beauty expert Mayra Lopez talked about the do's and don'ts when it comes to applying makeup. The wrong technique for applying eye shadow, eyeliner, concealer, and face contour can visually add several years to your face.

The makeup artist showed how she used conventional makeup techniques on one side of her face and her own methods on the other, which visually improved skin tone and appearance.

For a more expressive look, you should change the eyeliner application technique. Do not emphasize the lower eyelid with a sharp dark arrow as this will visually make the eyes smaller. The eyeliner should go from the outer corner of the eyes slightly upwards. This way, the face seems to be tightened and looks younger.

Those with mature skin should avoid applying shimmering eyeshadow to the brow bone.

"If you have mature skin, you can still emphasize your eyes with sparkling eyeshadow, just don't apply glitter to the area under the brow bone if you have hooded eyes," the makeup artist says.

It is better to use matte light shades. If you want to get rid of dark circles under the eyes, the very first product you will use is concealer. The makeup artist advises applying it only to the inner and outer corners of the eyes.

The application technique is also key when it comes to contouring and blush. If you apply the contour too low, it will actually lower your face. Blush should not be used directly in the center of the cheek, it should be used on the cheekbones.

Lopez also advises not just filling in the eyebrows with a pencil or gel but lifting them with the right application technique. It is worth combing your eyebrows before emphasizing them with a pencil.
