The expert gave three tips on how to avoid electrifying your hair in winter
The winter season brings not only frost and a festive atmosphere but also some inconveniences for hair. Electrification after taking off a hat, scarf, or combing is one of them. Nassim Bellaq, an expert who runs a brand of care products, offered three effective ways to keep your hair smooth and manageable.
He told Vogue France the reason for the electrification of hair: "The drop in temperature promotes dry air, which creates an increase in the electrical charge in the hair. In the summer or spring, the air is more humid, which makes it easier to remove static electricity." Bellaq also noted that when the hair rubs against synthetic or woolen clothing, it accumulates electrostatic charges, which causes trouble and discomfort.
Therefore, the expert suggests three main components of hair care in winter to keep your hair looking beautiful and groomed.
1. Moisturize the air
Cold winter air and heat from heaters tend to be dry, which contributes to the accumulation of static electricity. According to the expert, you need to humidify the air in your home to maintain optimal humidity. This will not only help your hair but also improve your skin condition and overall well-being.
2. Avoid synthetics
"A small tip for clothing is to avoid scarves and hats made of synthetic materials and give preference to cotton, for example," said Nassim Bellaq.
Synthetic materials, such as polyester or acrylic, can significantly increase the electrification of hair. Therefore, it is worth choosing hats, scarves, and other accessories made of natural fabrics such as cotton or wool. They are not only pleasant to the touch, but also reduce the accumulation of static charge.
3. Nourishing and moisturizing care
Dry hair is more prone to electrification, so it is important to moisturize it regularly.
"A moisturizing formula that compensates for this lack of hydration is recommended. Moreover, overly chemical formulas can increase the opening of the scales that make up the surface of the hair, which contributes to the dehydration of the hair fiber. Therefore, moisturizing and softness are the key words to minimize the effects of static electricity on hair," the expert added.
He advises giving preference to shampoos without silicone and using a conditioner or mask.
