Eye makeup is not universal for everyone – it should suit the structure of the eye and the shape of the eyelids. While almond-shaped eyes are quite easy to paint, downward-facing eyes require a special approach.

Makeup artists call downward-facing eyes those whose outer corner is lower than the inner corner if you draw a conditional horizontal line through the center of the pupil. Do not rush to say that it is ugly. Beauties Anne Hathaway and Sidney Sweeney have this eye shape. OBOZ.UA asked experts for advice on how to make makeup as successful as theirs.

How to apply mascara correctly

Even if you don't do complex and expressive eye makeup, you almost certainly use mascara. Makeup artists advise giving preference to a formula that primarily lengthens and curls the eyelashes. Focus on coloring the upper lashes and emphasize the center of the eye, not the outer corner tufts. This will draw attention to the long lashes in the center and lift them.

How to use eyeliner

As opposed to the popular cat eye, you're better off creating a puppy dog eye. The difference between these makeup looks is that you need to do exactly the opposite. Instead of pointing the eyeliner up towards the tail of the eyebrow, point the arrow slightly down to follow the natural shape of your eyes. This approach was very popular in the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century. It created images full of dreamy innocence. Look for photos of actresses such as Clara Bow, Estelle Taylor, and Irene Delroy – they were especially fond of the puppy dog eye.

Move dark shadows down

The easiest way to emphasize downward eyes is to apply dark brown or dark gray eyeshadow along the lower lash line and blend it to the tail of the eyebrow. In this way, you will create an image that is as close as possible to the "cat eye", but at the same time advantageous for your eye shape.

How to apply eye shadow to droopy eyes

To make up this eye shape, use a small, dense brush, as well as dark eyeshadow or a soft pencil. Start applying the product from the outer corner under the lower lashes and gently create a fairly thick line. In the inner corner, point the arrow towards the nose and blend well. The darker and wider this line is, the better you emphasize the natural shape of your eyes.

To balance your makeup, use a soft nude shade of eyeshadow. Apply them to the crease of the upper eyelid, moving from the inner corner and blending the product outward.
