"It's a disaster": Princess Diana's former hairdresser named her most unsuccessful hairstyle. Photo
Princess Diana's former hairdresser Richard Dalton stopped working with her in 1991, but he always remembered those years of work. Now, with the support of his friend Rene Plant, curator of the Princess Diana Museum, the hairdresser has shared these memories in his new book, It's All About the Hair: My Decade with Diana, which features stories he has never told about the royal family before.
Dalton explained to People that he published the book because he wanted to document his true story. In the book, he even named the princess's most unfortunate hairstyle – in his opinion, it was on her wedding day in 1981.
"27 years have passed since Princess Diana's death, and nothing in my book harms her character. Just wonderful memories," the hairdresser commented.
Richard Dalton was responsible for styling Diana's hair on the eve of her wedding to Charles on July 29, 1981, although he was not the one who did her hair on that big day. This task was handled by his colleague Kevin Shanley.
In the book, Dalton calls Diana's wedding day hair a "disaster" – and says the bride agreed.
"Diana told me that she would like to do the wedding again to get her hair right," Dalton said.
Richard also shared his memories that he had to do hair for the princess in different conditions and often in a limited time. Sometimes he had only 15 minutes to do his job, but he never felt pressured by the princess.
"I liked taking risks with Diana's hair, trying new things," Dalton adds.
