Real makeup gurus can draw perfect arrows in seconds. For mere mortals, it usually takes a while to get along with eyeliner. The eyeliner smudges and lies unevenly, and you can only dream of symmetry on both eyes. And then there's the additional challenge of summer heat. The eyeliner can create a not very attractive "raccoon eyes" effect.

Makeup artists told us about effective life hacks that will help fix eye makeup. There are proven ways to keep your makeup on all day long.

Eyeliners usually come in liquid or gel form, which often smudges on the eyelid, especially if you have oily skin.

Famous makeup artist Kathy Jeung says that the best way to avoid smudging is to add a waterproof eyeliner after the main application.

There is an alternative option: you can improve the durability of your makeup by first using a waterproof pencil as the main eyeliner. After creating a basic look with a pencil, follow the line with another eyeliner, this time a gel or liquid one.

Sometimes it happens that no matter what kind of eyeliner you use, at the end of the day there are spots on the eyelids. Makeup artists advise people with oily skin types to use liquid formulas rather than waxy ones. The idea is to retain as much moisture as possible so that the eyeliner remains rich and long-lasting.

However, the main mistake is not cleaning your eyelids enough before applying eyeliner. First, use micellar water to cleanse your eyelids of any oily or sweaty build-up. After the eyeliner has dried, you can add a little matte powder to it and emphasize the line again if necessary.
