Choosing a wedding dress is a touching and exciting process for brides. In particular, for future first ladies - the chosen ones of influential politicians and showmen. Why? It's simple: during a solemn ceremony that symbolizes the transition to a new stage of life, they want to look great (and hear thousands of compliments!).

In the OBOZ.UA article, we will tell you about the wedding looks of famous first ladies (former and current). Some of them relied on modest Victorian dresses, while others chose outfits with jewels and exquisite textures.

1. Jacqueline Kennedy

On September 12, 1953, the future 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, walked his chosen one, Jacqueline Kennedy, down the aisle. The bride wore a lush silk taffeta dress designed by African-American designer Ann Lowe. This dress had a bardot neckline and huge ivory flowers. The head was adorned with a long veil with floral ornaments, and the neck was decorated with a laconic pearl necklace. The delicate look was completed with a bouquet of white and pink gardenias and orchids.

2. Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama and Illinois Senator in the US Congress Barack Obama (later the 44th President of the United States) got married on October 3, 1992. The bride was right to choose an A-line dress. After all, even now, 30+ years later, this style remains relevant. At the ceremony, Michelle wore an ivory silk dress with a bardot neckline, which she complemented with a fluffy veil, long gloves, a set of pearl jewelry and a bouquet of white roses.

3. Hillary Clinton

The 42nd President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton, and his beloved Hillary Clinton had a modest wedding on October 11, 1975, with 15 people invited. Shortly before the ceremony, the bride did not have a dress! The reason for this is unknown. She told her mother her body measurements, and she went to the mall and bought a long lace dress in the Victorian style.

4. Melania Trump

The Slovenian model Melania Trump and the politician Donald Trump (the 45th President of the United States) stood down the aisle on January 22, 2005. The couple held an extravagant wedding, inviting more than 350 guests. The bride wore an exquisite satin dress with a long train by Dior, which designer John Galliano personally embroidered with precious stones. Melania's head was adorned with a five-meter-long veil and her neck with a diamond necklace. Fun fact: this wedding look was featured on the archival cover of Vogue.

5. Queen Letizia

Prince Philip (since 2014, King Philip VI of Spain) and his chosen one Letizia got married on May 22, 2004, at the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Real de la Almudena in Madrid. The bride walked down the aisle in a snow-white silk dress by Manuel Pertegaz with a stand-up collar and a 4-meter train. The outfit was decorated with hand embroidery and stylized with the family tiara worn by Prince Philip's mother.

6. Queen Camilla

Camilla and Prince Charles, the future King of Great Britain, were married on April 9, 2005. At the civil ceremony, the bride wore an elegant straight-silhouette milk dress, a matching coat by Valentine Robinson, and an ostrich feather and flower hat by Philip Treacy. At the blessing service, Camilla wore a pale blue coat dress by Valentine Robinson with gold embroidery and a hat decorated with decorative ears of wheat by Philip Treacy.

7. Olena Zelenska

On September 6, 2003, Olena Zelenska had a modest wedding with showman Volodymyr Zelensky (now the 6th President of Ukraine). The newlyweds invited their closest relatives and friends to the ceremony. The future first lady wore an elegant off-the-shoulder white dress with large pale pink tulle flowers. She complemented her look with a choker and a veil with delicate lilies.
