Cool, neutral or warm: how to determine your skin tone

Determining your skin tone is an important step in choosing the right makeup, clothing, and accessories. Understanding your undertone will help you to emphasize your natural beauty in the right way.

Skin tone does not depend on its color, so it is not easy to determine. However, professional makeup artist Aimee Morrison has shared several methods to help you do this.

There are three main skin types: cool, warm, and neutral. They don't change throughout your life, and they don't depend on how pale or tanned you are.

Cool skin has a pink or blue undertone, warm skin has a yellow or peachy tone, and neutral skin has no distinct shade.

Veins

Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist and try to figure out which color predominates. If they appear more blue or purple, then you have a cold undertone, and if they appear green, then you have a warm undertone.

If you find it hard to tell, you probably have a neutral skin tone.

Jewelry

If you often wear jewelry, you've probably already noticed which ones suit you and which ones don't. If you look best in silver, you have a cool skin tone, and if you look best in gold, you have a warm skin tone.

However, if rose gold looks best on you or you feel good in both silver and gold jewelry, then you most likely have a neutral undertone.

White T-shirt

Put on a white T-shirt and look in the mirror. If your skin is somewhat pink, try to choose clothes and cosmetics in cool colors, and if it is yellow, then warm colors.

If you don't notice any changes in your complexion, then all shades should suit you.

Tanning

Pay attention to how your skin reacts to prolonged sun exposure. If you start to blush and turn pink, you have a cool skin tone, and if you tan easily and turn golden, you have a warm skin tone.

At the same time, if you burn a little but still tan, you probably have a neutral shade.
