Lowering blood pressure is facilitated by plant substances - flavanols, which are found in large quantities in apples, tea, berries, and even chocolate.

According to CNN, a group of scientists led by the University of Reading studied the nutritional system of more than 25.6 thousand British residents. Experts have found that it is possible to reduce blood pressure in blood vessels with the help of a special diet that does not require special dietary restrictions.

Among the study participants who consumed flavanols, the blood pressure index was much lower compared to those who neglected these substances. This is especially true for those who initially had high blood pressure.

According to scientists, the positive effect of flavanols on blood pressure is not inferior in its effectiveness to a complete diet for hypertensive patients.

The main problem is that the amount of flavanols in a cup of tea or an apple can vary greatly. Therefore, researchers were unable to calculate the optimal portions of a product for maximum benefit.
