Extraordinary potato casserole: the secret is in the pickles

Potato casserole is always a delicious and nutritious dish. By adding just one ingredient, the dish acquires an extraordinary and very interesting flavor.

Food blogger Daria Ivanova posted a recipe for potato casserole on Instagram. She explained how to make an extraordinary casserole out of ordinary potatoes by adding pickles.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes – 1 kg
  • Sour cucumber – 3 pcs
  • Large carrot – 1 pc
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Onion – 1 pc
  • Hard or semi-hard cheese – 250-300 g
  • Oregano – 1 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into medium cubes.

2. Put the frying pan on high heat, add 3-5 tbsp of oil, heat, put the potatoes and fry until golden brown. About 10 minutes.

3. Finely chop the onion and fry in a frying pan with 2 tbsp of oil for 4 minutes.

4. Grate the carrots on a small grater and add them to the onions. Reduce the heat and fry for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Add chopped garlic 1 minute before the end of cooking.

6. Cut the pickles into rings.

7. Put half of the potatoes in a heat-resistant dish. Put half the roast on the potatoes, and then all the cucumbers in one thick layer. Put the roast on top again, and the last layer is potatoes.

8. Flatten and bake in a preheated 180-degree oven for 40 minutes.
