Simple and delicious apple pie recipe from Liza Hlinska

"When the house is full of apples, but you're tired of baking them and it's boring to eat them raw, make this apple pie!" advises Liza Hlinska, a well-known and reputable Ukrainian pastry chef.

I confess: I made it as soon as I read the recipe. I couldn't wait for it to cool completely – I cut it off and ate a piece while it was still warm. And then I cut it off and ate it again... Yes, it's too much of a temptation, I admit. When you bake this cake, gather around the table with the whole family. I assure you that there will not be a single piece left after tea!

And now, here's Liza Hlinska's word.

"An incredibly tasty and simple recipe. You can replace some of the apples in the pie with pumpkin, or carrots, or add coconut if you want to go exotic. I'm 100% sure that everyone will love this apple pie!

YOU WILL NEED

For a round split mold, 22 cm in diameter

  • 200 g of flour
  • 200 g of semolina
  • 200 g of sugar (brown cane sugar can be used)
  • 10 g of baking powder
  • 1/3 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon (can be replaced with vanilla)
  • 10 pcs of apples, medium
  • 100 g butter (cold)
  • 50 g of brown cane sugar

HOW TO MAKE IT?

Step 1.

Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, semolina, sugar (200 g), baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

White sugar can be replaced with brown cane sugar, and cinnamon can be replaced with vanilla.

Step 2

Prepare the apples for the pie: peel and grate them on a coarse grater.

Step 3

Put the parchment in a split mold, coat it with butter, and put it in layers, alternating them: a layer of dry ingredients, a layer of grated apples, dry ingredients again, apples, and so on. Finish the assembly with dry ingredients.

Step 4

Rub the cold butter on a fine grater and sprinkle with cane sugar (50 g).

Step 5

Bake the cake in a preheated 180°C oven for 50 minutes.

Step 6

Let the cake cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. The apple pie is ready!"
