Salt is the main seasoning we use in the kitchen

It can happen to anyone – one awkward move and the dish seems hopelessly over-salted. However, it's not all bad, and you can still "resuscitate" a spoiled dinner with some tricky life hacks.

The Wp.pl portal has collected the best tips on how to return a salted dish to its normal taste. To do this, you will need simple products that are usually available in any kitchen.

The first secret superfood that can neutralize the overly pronounced taste of salt is potatoes. They are suitable for salted soup, stew, or other cooked dishes. Take a few large potatoes, wash them, cut them into several pieces if desired, and put them in boiling water for 10 minutes. During the boiling time, the potatoes will absorb excess salt.

Bread can also help. To do this, put a slice of dried bread in a salted dish for a few minutes. In this case, you can also use crusts. The bread will absorb some of the salt, and the dish will taste more pleasant.

An apple can also save you from defeat in the kitchen. It will not only absorb salt but also give the dish a peculiar sweetish flavor. To use this tip, cut it, peel it, and throw it into the boiling soup. It takes about 10 minutes of cooking for this method to work.

You can also beat one or two egg whites into the boiling salted dish. By curdling, they will absorb the salt. However, the whites should be removed before serving the dish. This method is not new. It has long been known and used in Asian countries.

Experts advise adding a pinch of sugar to the dish if it does not contradict the concept of the dish. Add it carefully, stirring the soup and tasting it. Add sugar until the flavor seems balanced.

Milk or yogurt can also be used for certain categories of dishes. For example, for salted sauces. A small amount of milk or a few tablespoons of yogurt can be added to a boiling dish. Experts recommend cooling the yogurt a little before adding it.

A fairly proven method that many people know is rice. In this case, you should put a bag of rice in a salted soup, sauce or goulash. During cooking, it will absorb water, and with it, excess salt. After 10 minutes, you can take it out, and the dish should have a normal taste by then.

Another simple way is to increase the portion. If there are products from which the dish was prepared, you should simply add more of them. If the pan does not allow you to do this, you can divide the dish into two parts. If the salad turned out to be too salty, it is important to add additional ingredients as soon as possible before the salt is absorbed into the original products.

Wine will help to cope with salted meat. If there is too much salt in meat cooked in the oven or in a pan, pour half a glass of dry wine into it. Its acidity will balance the flavor.

In any case, experts advise not to be upset and not to rush to throw away a salted dish but to look around for rescue products. But in the future, they still advise to be more careful.
