Crispy French baguette in the oven: no comparison with store-bought

What better way to complement a delicious toast with avocado, cheese, salmon, or just butter than with a golden brown and soft baguette. To achieve the perfect texture, the dough must be made with yeast. But don't worry - it's not whimsical and easy to work with. You just need to follow some recommendations.

Food blogger Julia (juli_co.ok) shared a recipe for a real French baguette on her Instagram page.

Ingredients for 2 large or 4 small baguettes:

  • flour - 550 g
  • water - 370 ml
  • salt - 10-12 g
  • dry yeast - 5 g

Method of preparation:

1. Mix all the ingredients and knead the dough first with a spatula and then with a special dough spatula.

2. When the dough starts to lag behind the sides, put it in a greased area and leave it for 30-40 minutes.

3. After that, you need to pull the dough to the top several times and leave it again for 30-40 minutes.

4. During this time, the dough should rise noticeably, knead it and leave it for another 15 minutes.

5. Meanwhile, prepare everything for baking. Cover the baking sheet with parchment, sprinkle the surface with flour.

6. Divide the dough into 2 parts and leave to rest for 10 minutes.

7. Form baguettes and place on a baking sheet. Put a towel on both sides to keep the baguettes in shape. Cover with a towel and leave for 30 minutes.

8. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 250 degrees and place a baking sheet with water on the bottom. Make cuts in the baguettes and bake for 25 minutes.
