You can often find information online that experienced chefs freeze French fries before frying them as this allegedly adds extra crispiness and flavor.

In an exclusive commentary for OBOZREVATEL, chef Eleonora Baranova confirmed this information and added that this method of cooking fries is indeed quite common.

According to the expert, the main advantage of this method is that the product no longer needs to be prepared in advance. This, in turn, saves a lot of time. In addition, it does not leave much waste or dirt on the kitchen surface.

The only important thing to keep in mind is that French fries should never be thawed before frying. Otherwise, there is a risk of losing the golden and crispy crust.

Also, chefs do not recommend adding salt to the cooked dish. After all, it quickly becomes soft and loses all its flavor.

Cut the potatoes into equal pieces.

How to prepare French fries for freezing

In fact, there is nothing difficult and the process follows the same scheme: pre-peel the potatoes, wash them thoroughly and cut them into slices. It doesn't matter how you do it, as long as all the slices are approximately the same shape and thickness.

Next, the product undergoes a short blanching, about 2 minutes. After that, the vegetable is dried, placed on a flat dish covered with parchment, and sprinkled sunflower oil. At the final stage, when the potatoes are frozen, they are placed in bags for long-term storage. The shelf life is approximately 6 months.
