- sauerkraut - 1 liter
- white cabbage - 0.5 pcs
- meat (fatty pork) - 600-700 g
- dried mushrooms - two handfuls
- onion - 1-2 pcs
- tomato paste - 1-2 tbsp
- salt, pepper, bay leaf - to taste
- oil for frying onions
- water
Method of preparation:
1. Fry the meat in a dry pan.
2. Put it in a large saucepan and add water to cover 2-3 centimeters above the meat.
3. Add the washed and dried mushrooms and put them on medium heat.
4. At this time, rinse the sauerkraut several times to reduce the saltiness.
5. Chop the white cabbage. If it is hard, add it together with the sauerkraut to stew.
6. Fry the onion until golden brown.
7. About 20 minutes before the cabbage is ready, add tomato paste, fried onions, salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Stir and simmer. The water should evaporate.
Stewed cabbage is delicious when it is fatty. Therefore, you need to take fatty meat or add a little lard during stewing.
