How to make homemade wine from cherries

Cherry wine is sweet, with a slight tartness and sourness. And while it's summer outside, you can make this drink at home. You only need a few simple ingredients to start the natural fermentation process, and you don't have to add alcohol.

The idea of making homemade cherry wine was published on the Instagram page of blogger Kateryna (ne_ta_vesna).

Method of preparation:

1. Pour cherries (with pits) and sugar into a clean container in layers.

2. Wrap cheesecloth folded several times around the neck and put it in a warm, sunny place. A window sill is ideal.

3. Leave it there for 2-4 days until the fermentation process begins. The smell of cherry brew passing through the cheesecloth and the foam on the berries will tell you about it.

4. Put a water seal or put on a rubber glove. If you use the latter, do not forget to pierce a few fingers with a needle so that the glove does not slip off.

5. Transfer the jar to a warm place (at least 25 degrees) without direct sunlight.

6. For the next 30-40 days, monitor the process and change the glove from time to time.

7. When the glove falls off, decant the ready-made cherries and pour them into bottles, filtering 2-3 times through cotton wool. The bottles should be glass and not filled to the top. Because after a dose of oxygen, a light fermentation process will begin again.

8. Put the bottles in the cellar for another month.

9. Optionally, you can strain the cherries through a hose.
