Instead of fatty cutlets: Liza Hlinska shared a recipe for juicy meatballs

Cutlets, which we usually make from ground beef, are quite oily. Especially if they are fried. So it's a good idea to make delicious meatballs. The dish is quite dietary, but not dry. This is because it is cooked in the oven rather than in a frying pan.

Famous Ukrainian chef Liza Hlinska shared the idea of making minced beef meatballs on her Instagram page.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • minced beef - 500 g
  • rice - 150 g (6 tbsp with a slide) + 350 ml of water (1+3/4 cups)
  • medium onion - 3 pcs
  • salt - to taste
  • black pepper - to taste
  • vegetable oil
  • semolina - 50 g (2.5 tbsp)

Ingredients for the filling:

  • tomatoes in their own juice - (300 g) 1.5 cups
  • carrots - 2 pieces (medium)
  • onions - 2 pieces (medium)
  • salt (to taste)
  • water
  • sugar

Method of preparation:

Onions and minced meat for the dish

1. Pour the rice into a saucepan, cover with water, and salt, and cook for 15 minutes over low heat with the lid closed.

2. Turn off the stove and leave the rice under the lid until it cools completely.

3. Peel and chop the onion into small cubes.

4. Fry in vegetable oil until light golden brown.

5. Combine the minced meat, rice and onion. Season with salt and pepper and mix.

6. Form meatballs, roll in semolina, and fry in vegetable oil for a few minutes on each side until golden brown.

7. Prepare the filling: cut the carrots into strips, chop the onion into small cubes.

8. Fry the cooked vegetables in vegetable oil, and salt and mix.

9. Add tomatoes in their own juice and mix.

10. Pour half of the filling to the bottom of the pan, and spread evenly.

11. Put the fried meatballs on top.

12. Then add the remaining filling. Also, add 50 ml of water to the pan.

13. Cover the pan and cook the meatballs for 15-20 minutes.
