An acidic environment will help get rid of bacteria, so water alone is not enough. Fruits and vegetables should be washed in a water-vinegar solution (150 milliliters of vinegar per liter of water). This is the best way to get rid of all the bacteria that have settled on the skins of fruits and vegetables.

However, to fight pesticides, we need an acidic environment, so we add a tablespoon of ordinary baking soda to a liter of water and rinse the produce.
