How to prepare fig bushes for winter to ensure big harvest
In order for bushes and trees to bear fruit in the new season, they need to be properly prepared. This also applies to such a crop as figs. The active ripening period of this product ends in mid-October.
Therefore, you need to take care of the branches and leaves then. The FoodOboz editorial team will tell you how to properly care for a fig bush so that it has plenty of fruit in season.
After the leaves have fallen off, figs need to be treated with a variety of antifungal and antiparasitic preparations.
After a few days, bend the side shoots to the ground. They do not need to be attached. If you bend the branches several times, they continue to grow at a 45-degree angle. Four branches are lowered to one side and four to the other.
The middle should be cut out, forming a bowl-shaped bush. This will contribute to faster fruit ripening. If the bush thickens, they may crumble.
Note that you cannot lower the shoots to bare ground.
Then you should use the branches left over from pruning to make a so-colled pillow. Cover the bushes with sugar bags or agrofiber. After that, slate covers should be installed over the bushes. Sprinkle the fig with soil.
