Pickled herring in tomato paste
Ingredients:
- freshly frozen herring – 1 kg
- onions – 3-4 pcs

Marinade:
- oil – 1/2 cup
- tomato paste – 2 tbsp
- allspice – 1 tsp.
- ground red pepper – 1 tsp
- salt – 3 tbsp
- sugar – 2 tbsp
- vinegar 9% – 80 ml
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the herring into portions, and onion in half rings.
2. Mix the oil and tomato paste in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
Preparing the marinade
3. Add pepper, salt, sugar and vinegar. Mix and chill.
4. Put the fish and onions in layers in the jar, pouring the marinade over each layer.
Cooking process
5. Put the herring in the refrigerator for about one day.
