How to make Tiramisu roll: a budget alternative to the popular dessert

Tiramisu roll is a very simple and budget-friendly alternative to the popular Italian dessert. Instead of savoyardi sticks, ordinary sponge cake is used here. It is smeared with a very delicate cottage cheese and cream cream.

The idea of making Tiramisu sponge roll was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Svitlana with the nickname recepti_svitlana21.

Biscuit ingredients:

  • 5 pcs eggs
  • 120 g sugar
  • 20 g cornstarch
  • 110 g flour
  • 5 g leavening agent

Method of preparation:

1. Separate the whites from the yolk.

2. Start whipping the whites at low speed and in 3 steps add sugar, increase speed to maximum and whip until thick foam.

3. Then add 1 yolk at a time without stopping beating.

4. Next, sift the flour, starch and baking powder into a bowl.

5. Gently stir with a spatula until smooth.

6. Line a baking tray with parchment (if you are not sure about your parchment, grease it with more oil).

7. Pour the dough, level and put to bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes (to be dry toothpick).

8. Slide off the baking tray onto a table, remove the parchment and wrap the hot biscuit together with a towel and leave until completely cooled.

Ingredients for the cream:

  • 250 g cream 33%
  • 250 g mascarpone or Philadelphia cream
  • 70 g powdered sugar

Method of preparation:

1. Whip cream with powdered sugar, add mascarpone and whip until smooth.

2. Brew 150 ml of strong coffee.

3. Grate 80 g of milk or dark chocolate.

4. Soak the first biscuit in coffee and the second one in cream.

5. Sprinkle with grated chocolate.

6. Roll into a roll.

7. Sprinkle cocoa and grated chocolate on top.

8. Put in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours
