Spending summer evenings in the company of friends over a delicious dinner is priceless. Nevertheless, hot weather provokes a rapid multiplication of bacteria, which makes food unfit for consumption and dangerous for human health.

That's why it's important to know how to keep food from spoiling during the summer heat. Sophie Trueman, UK director of Too Good To Go, told the Mirror how to do it properly.

Spinach and mushrooms spoil the fastest in the heat, causing them to become soft. Use a kitchen towel or paper bag to absorb the moisture of these ingredients and promote air flow in the spinach and mushrooms.

Carrots are also quickly exposed to the negative effects of high temperatures. To prevent them from wilting and becoming soft, you should immerse them in cold water. Simply slice the carrots and put them in a container with water, then send them to the refrigerator. This way, the carrots will stay fresh and crunchy for a long time.

Another problem vegetable in the heat is tomatoes. In order to keep them as long as possible, you should put them in the refrigerator with their feet upside down. So you will keep them from getting air inside, accelerating the deterioration of the vegetable.
