How to cook barley deliciously: a spectacular presentation of banal porridge
Many people associate pearl barley with old-school cafeterias, where this porridge was often prepared. A gray, primitive lump with a spoon in it – that's what the dish looked like. But this cereal can be really delicious if you cook it properly. You just need to combine the right ingredients and follow the right cooking techniques.

Ingredients:
- pearl barley – 500 g
- meat – 350 g
- onions – 3 large or 1.5 medium
- carrots – 0.5 pcs
- bay leaves – 2 pcs
- salt and pepper – to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Leave the barley for 2-3 hours in cold water.
2. Cut the meat into pieces and fry in a cauldron over high heat.
3. Add the chopped onion, season with a little salt.
4. Add the barley and cover with 2.5 fingers of water. Add salt and pepper to taste.
5. Add bay leaves and carrots for flavor.
6. Heat and put in the oven for 2 hours, cook under a closed lid. After an hour has passed, you can open and stir.
