Caramel candies are a true taste of childhood. They are extremely sweet and attractive – everything that kids love so much. You can buy this dessert, but it's a better idea to make it at home – it's much healthier and tastier. Moreover, many Ukrainian schools have started vacationing today, so you can make these sweets with your children and have a great time.

A simple idea for making caramels was shared by journalist and TV presenter Marichka Padalko on her Instagram page

Ingredients:

  • powdered sugar - 200 g
  • citric acid - 0.5 tsp
  • water - 50 ml

For decoration, you can use sprinkles, like for Easter

Method of preparation:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Bubbles will begin to appear on the surface, they will become more intense. Boil for five minutes.

How to check the caramel for readiness:

  • the mixture will begin to turn yellow and thicken
  • take a stick, dip it into the hot caramel, and then quickly into a glass of very cold water (from the refrigerator). If the caramel on the stick hardens immediately, it is ready to be poured into molds. If it is still soft, then cook it a little longer, but not for long, so that the mixture does not become too thick and bitter.

Which molds to choose

If the molds are iron or plastic, grease them with vegetable oil. It's best to choose silicone ones, as the caramels will easily lag. The sticks should be quickly inserted into the spilled caramel, as it hardens instantly. Decorate at your discretion. You can add natural coloring if you wish.

How to make these candies without molds

The mass can be poured onto oiled parchment or a silicone mat, insert sticks into these sweet "drops", wait until it thickens, and then carefully separate it from the paper.
