The most interesting thing is that making these waffles requires only a few ingredients and very little time. Then you can enjoy a delicious treat with your favorite toppings, fillings, or jam.

The FoodOboz editorial team will tell the story of Belgian waffles and share a classic recipe from chef Lilia Tsvit. (To watch the video, scroll to the end of the news).

Rumor has it that the history of Viennese waffles goes back more than 120 years. But even today it is not known exactly where and under what circumstances the dessert appeared. Some culinary historians say that the name was first heard in Ancient Greece, and only then did the Germans begin to take credit for waffles. After all, the word "waffle" translates as "honeycomb", which fully corresponds to the appearance of waffles with embossed squares.

The Austrian or Viennese waffles that we are used to seeing now were first prepared by an Austrian confectioner and presented at an exhibition in 1898. However, back then they were called "Neapolitan waffles". That's because the author prepared a delicacy with a nut filling, which was brought from Naples in those days. But the main feature is not this, but the consistency - the waffles resembled sponge cookies, not crispy pastries.
