"1/2 cup of boiled lentils contains as much as 180 mcg of folic acid (vitamin B9), which plays an important role in many metabolic processes in the body. This is a very important vitamin for the health of a pregnant woman and her unborn baby," the nutritionist said.

Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko on his website shared a recipe for a delicious lentil dish that will make you love this product.

Ingredients:

  • lentils – 200 g
  • star anise – 1-2 pcs.
  • butter – 20 g
  • salt – to taste
  • spices to taste – anise, parsley stalks, garlic, bay leaf, allspice.

Method of preparation:

  1. Wash the lentils, put them in a saucepan, cover with water, salt, and cook over high heat until tender.
  2. Add the star anise and spices.
  3. Bring the lentils to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for another 20-30 minutes until the lentils are tender.
  4. Then put them in a colander and return them to the pot, add the butter, and serve.
